joseph THORN (General)

Some time ago I posted about my 3x gt grandfather Joseph Thorne ('Mason') of Blakeney and the lack of a christening record for him. Helpful replies failed to find such a record but prompted a visit by me to the excellent archives and family history centres in Gloucester. There I found the Will of an Ann Thorn (nee James) which clearly identifies as Joseph as one of her sons. Ann was married to Cheristopher Thorn.

Now I am looking to go back further and have found some parish register entries which point the way but are bit inconclusive.

However, I am very interested in the reference in Ann's Will to a piece of land in Tidenham called 'Lumpland', which she bequeathed to her sons James and Joseph in equal shares.

Also, from other archives records, I have established that Joseph's share (or part thereof)was sold (by his grandson)in 1879 to The Wye Valley Railway. I also noted that OS maps show a 'James Thorn Wood' in Tidenham.

Can anyone please help me to find any history about this part of Tidenham parish and the lands referred to, which may be the key to finding which Thorns lived there and are Joseph's descendants.

All or any comments would be welcome!
