Looking at the 1861 census with Mary E HALE born 1860, Tewkesbury, Daughter and then checking with Gloucestershirebdm

???? not sure about this....... Is James HALE - James HOLDBROOK/HOLBROOK

Checked with my Gloucestershire baptism Index 1813-1837 - and can't see a baptism of a James HALE c1834, Tewkesbury. However, there is an Elizabeth HALE of the High Street, who had a daughter 23 September 1832, Ann Maria. There is a James HOLBROOK, christened at Tewkesbury - 30 July 1837 of Thomas (labourer) & Elizabeth.

and looking at the 1841 census High Street, Tewkesbury

Thomas HOLBROOK - 30 - who is a Butcher (same trade as James)
Elizabeth HOLBROOK - 40
James HOLBROOK - 5
Thomas - 3 (Gloucestershirebdm - mother's maiden name HALE)
John HALE - 15
Eliza - 10
Elizabeth 1

Again, looking at Gloucestershire bdm - A Thomas HOLBROOK married an Elizabeth HALE at St Mary The Abbey, Tewkesbury 1849
