Richard WILLIAMS, 1851 Census (General)

Thank you for the prompt reply and information. I think however that the information relates to another Williams family in St B.

At this period there were at least 4 if not 6 WILLIAMS families in St B. At least one of these families were headed by a Richard and Hannah and one family originated in Monmouthshire (Penallt?) and I think this may refer to that family, slightly older by 5 years or so who have confused me before!

We know for definite our Richard WILLIAMS married Hannah PEAD on 24.10.1794 at St B. Hannah PEAD born Lydney 1773, so in the County and they had sons
Richard 1796 who died approx 6 days later,
Joseph 15.4.1798,
Richard 12.9.1800, died 2 yrs later 20.10.1802, (so no Richard would have been in 1841 cencus)
John 2.1.1803,
George 4.4.1806
William 29.4.1810 (who I think married Mary Ann Kear who was only 13/14yrs old Thomas 5.4.1814 then a daughter,
Hannah 1817 (dressmaker) who married 20.4.1840 to George Edwards, labouer from Hudnalls.

From the wedding of our Richard and Hannah PEAD we can trace with certainty by records to roots that have spread very wide in the Forest, surnames PRITCHARD, WORGAN,PAGE, CRUM, HART, JONES (Coleford), TIMBRELL, ADDIS, BIRD, ELSMORE, DOUGAN, NURSE, GATFIELD, CLACK, BEDNEY, JAMES, CROTE/CROAT, WHITE, SELBY to mention a few.

I am now however in doubt as to the correct burial at St B of our Richard as the record put the Richard in my initial post as residing Chepstow aged 80 so probably refers to the Richard of the family in your reply ref 1841 cencus. This is the dilema with the St B Williams!! All I can confirm is our Richards marriage to Hannah PEAD.
Perhaps now our Richard was a son of Richard WILLIAMS and Martha ? both born around 1756 and residing in St B/Hewelsfield/Mork area. I can find no records of these 2 or link our Richard to them, its all guesswork by reoccuring christian names.

Prior to this period a WILLIAMS link can be traced to Richard WILLIAMS and Jane NICOLAS married St B 24.6.1672. There seems a void in St B parish records around 1780 with several other persons who I know were born in St B around 1780 and have no records in Parish. If only they had put age of groom/bride on marriage records it would give a clue when they were born and age buried. I have worked on this Richard's birth/death dates for 8 years now and its one step foreward then one step back in increased confusion.

Any help from anyone out there would help, I suspect anyone with a Richard and Hannah WILLIAMS from St B should recheck if they have correct family. Its possible these WILLIAMS mostly relate from the Richard WILLIAMS and Jane NICHOLS/NICKOLSON/NICKOLAS married St B 1672 mentioned above but I am sure not all do!
