Thanks for all the responses regarding these three brothers, born 1854, 1858 and 1860 respectively.

It appears they are sons of Thomas Parker and Susanahh X, and they were definitely living in East Dean in the late 1850's. Although on the 1901 Alfred states his place of birth as Nafold, Gloucestershire. Thomas died before 1861 because Susanah is listed as widow on the 1861 census. Susannah later married James Meek.

The boys went on to marry (Alfred to Hannah Parsons, Tom to Emily Harris and William to Constance X) and have their own families. Alfred and Hannah married at Drybrook Holy Trinity and their gravestone is in the cemetery at there(well it was the last time I looked), but the family seem to have been non-conformists.

I've been trying to figure out whether Thomas Parker (snr) was connected to my own family of Parkers - John, Mary and children (see previous threads). I therefore need to find Thomas and Susanahs marriage to find out more about Thomas

The thing that made me think that they were was a connection is that John and Mary had a son Jonah who died in 1854/5. A number of Jonah's siblings named their own children after Jonah, and the name continues through the family for a further 2 generations. Therefore I wondered if this was also the case with Alfred Jonah. It might of course just be coincidence!

Jonah was married when he died. He wed Naomi Elton (daughter of Samuel) in December 1952, and had one daugher Leah. Naomi remarried Richard Malson soon after. Leah Parker/Malson later married John Jordan.

Many thanks.
Maxine
