WILLIAMS - VAUGHAN & Great Berry Quarry (General)
by JANA WILLIAMS47, Sunday, September 17, 2006, 17:14 (6634 days ago)
Could I get some information regarding the Great Berry Quarry located in the Forest of Dean. This quarry was owned by George Williams & Joseph Williams between the years 1870 and 1876. George Williams married Letitia Vaughan in 1824. This couple had five children: Elizabeth, Joseph, George, Enoch, Letitia(became Mrs. Parsons). My husband is the great, great grandson of George Williams. I hope to research this history for our own children. Thank you in advance.

George Williams was my 3 x gt grandfather - I am descended via Letitia Parsons - and would be grateful for any info especially details of the marriage of George and Letitia (Lettice) Vaughan in 1824.

I've found 2 IGI records of christenings in Ruardean.
(1)Lettisha Vaughan, daughter of Absolom and Mary Vaughan, on 24 Feb 1804.
(2) Lettis Vaughan, daughter of John and Meriah Vaughan, on 13 Sep 1807.
Does anyone know if either of these is the Letitia/Lettice who married George Williams? From the census info it would appear to be the first.

I think you're right. I've just looked at the Site's transcriptions of Vaughan baptisms in Ruardean, and there seems to be a line back to 1684:
Lettitia 1804, parents Absolom & Mary
Absolom, 1772, parents Richard & Betty
Richard, 1741, parents Richard & Mary
Richard, 1701/02, parents John & Mary
John, 1684, Parents Andrew & Elinor
Also, there is a record of Richard & Betty (Gagg)'s marriage on 10 Jul 1768.
What an absolutely amazing resource - It has given me a lot to think about.
