yes, Slowhands is too shy to admit it but he works tirelessly 24/7 for all our benefit, a real guiding star.
But then again you too are to be thanked for all your hard work sharing these very interesting and helpful Wills, muchly appreciated.

Re the Maps on the Geograph site, yes the dotted lines are variations of tracks rather than roads. The exact type of line and their colour denotes whether footpath or bridlepath etc, also whether for public or private use.
Too my surprise (probably just my poor driving !) as good as this website most definitely is, I cannot find a key to the mapping ?
I think this is the correct key for these maps, from the Ordnance Survey (O.S) site, themselves grandfathers of all modern mapping.
