Feeding and watering foraging ex-Foresters (General)

I'm re-invading the Forest with a cousin and our wives for a long weekend of connection and re-connection in September. We would be grateful for local advice on eating and drinking on the following basis.

We're staying 4 nights at the Dean Gate Motel, Lydney, most meet-ups will be in Lydney, and we don't want to impose on long-lost relatives for meals. From looking on tripadvisor and other sites for the updated situation, and sticking to town or nearby on the A48, it looks like the best bets for meals could be the Ugly Duckling in Swan Road Lydney, the curry house in Forest Road Lydney, the George at Aylburton and the Ghurka at the Woolaston Inn. For drinks in Lydney it's looking like the Annexe at one end of town and the Cross Keys at the other, and we don't do any of those deafening venues where people over 21 are out of place.

On that basis, has anyone got other suggestions for venues for meals out for 4 and/or small scale reunion bevvies for up to say a dozen?
