Hi

Would someone be able to tell me where the Register for the Baptist Chapel, Parkend is held? I'm interested in a marriage that took place there in 1912.

Many thanks

Hi Down There,
has our heavy rainfall seeped thro' to cool you yet ?

You do ask some challenging questions don't you ! ;-)
I'm afraid I haven't a clue, I'm sure one of the Admin's does tho.

My first thought was Gloster Archives, in what I call their "non-Conformists" site.
However that doesnt seem to recognise Parkend as a Parish, unless it's included within "West Dean" perhaps ?, so ??
Suggest you try it anyhow tho' just in case.

The Glos Archives do have a file of the Chapel's general accounts etc, but no mention of the Registers; this found from a National Archives site link.
http://ww3.gloucestershire.gov.uk/DServe/dserve.exe?&dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=A...

No mention on Parkend Baptists on GlosBMD site.

So, in short, sorry but I don't know ?

Hello!

No rain - we might as well be in a desert. Just heard on the news that a place down the road from us - (well, 8 hours drive away) - hasn't had rain since May. All wishes for wet cool weather (without cyclones) very welcome.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it could be included under the West Dean banner. Hadn't thought of that. I was automatically thinking Bream or Lydney until I checked and saw Parkend and then knew I needed help. You know my geographical knowledge is very sparse!

I'll do some more delving based on what you've told me.

thanks again. much appreciated as always.

Yes, that's the one. I should have said, sorry. They were married 6th August 1912. I've got a copy of the marriage cert, but wondered if it would be possible to get a copy of the original entry in the parish register. :)

The Parkend Baptist's records are most likely part of the West Dean baptist records.
However the registers are not at Glos Archives, which is fairly common for the non conformist records... However The West Dean Baptist Church Roll is there for the period that interests you.
