For many years I have been searching in vain for 'Naumgreen' on old maps or books on the forest. This place was the supposed residence of my ancestor Mary Worgan as inscribed on her tombstone in English Bicknor - (she died 1719) I first discovered this tombstone back in 1982 & I think a survey of the churchyard was done in 1984 which recorded this odd name. The stone was fragile then & sadly I did not record the inscriptions myself - there was even a bible text on it. In the years since I have tried to find this stone again & even though I am sure I have located it, unfortunately the entire inscription has now completely eroded away.

Recently I noticed on the parish register pages of this wonderful website that her residence is now recorded as 'Newlands' which of course makes complete sense. So many thanks indeed team for this - does the team continue to re-check the parish registers I wonder?
