Fred Davis FoD Great War veteran? (General)
Hi,
Fred Davies the son of Thomas Davies and Alice Barnard was born on the 13 October 1888. Tom and Alice were my 2 X GreatGrandparents.
The 1911 census shows Fred as single and living with his brother Mea James Davies and his wife Frances Alice Lawton in Cudworth Barnsley. Fred is employed as a Railway Platelayer.
In 1916 Fred emigrated to the USA traveling with him was Annie Emily Cox, who later became his wife. They had 2 children Nancy and Cecil. Fred was employed in the Detroit motor industry and they made their home in Wayne Michigan.
Fred's last visit to the UK was in 1958 and on this occasion he stayed with my Aunt in Neath, South Wales. Also living in the area was his older sister Alice Green nee Davies the widow of William Green.I have only a vague memory of this visit as I was quite young at the time.
Ancestry records show a USA World War 1 Draft Registration Card for him which gives his place of birth as Mitcheldean.
Fred died in 1963 Detroit Michigan.
If Bill can confirm his email address is the same as my last contact with him,I can forward a photograph.
Julie
