Richard Edwards 1804 Upton St Leonard - Yemm link? (General)

Hi Jefff

Thanks so much for that. I had seen the thread about Richard's marriage to Elizabeth Gilding, but not the other thread. What a wealth of information!

I already have the family in all the censuses, but I did not have Richard's parentage and baptisms. Also, whereas our link is via Thomas 1836, all the other info re the siblings and BMD info from certificates will really help me complete the family picture and maybe throw out another clue as I go through it.

So this family are still clearly Edwards going back to Richard's parentage with no sign of a Yemm connection so far. I did find another thread on here about a John Edwards moving to Forest of Dean from Wales who did have a Yemm connection, but I couldn't tie the line to our Thomas 1836, no matter what I tried!

Maybe the middle name tradition first started around 1886 after all, so I will try again around South Wales.

Thanks so much for all this. I found reading about the area in those early times fascinating and explains the link between those Monmouthshire and East Dean ones mining families.

Again, many many thanks.
