Quickly looking at JAMES' Wills on Ancestry - somewhere there may be clues in Wills….

Mary JAMES of Yorkley who died 2 April 1856 - talks about her Sons Charles, Thomas JAMES & Isaac JAMES - daughters Hannah - wife of Thomas WILLETTS and Sarah wife of John WILLETTS. One of the signatures below the Will is a Philip JAMES - you have a Philip JAMES son in your tree….

The other signatures were: Thomas MORGAN and Robert Mitdon?

Also mentioned is her brother-in-law, William CHARLES. Executors were John BEDDIS of the Nags Head Inn, Yorkley and James DAVIS Executors.

Assume this is Mary JAMES in previous thread with Charles and Isaac - think father was George - is this a relative of your Philip? They were certainly living near to your Thomas JAMES on the 1841 census. (George JAMES married Mary TINGLE - at English Bicknor - 1 September 1801 + Elizabeth TINGLE married William CHARLES at Newland 31 August 1807)

Sarah JAMES (Hundred of St Briavels, married John WILLETTS - 1835 - Newland
Hannah JAMES (Yorkley) married Thomas WILLETTS - 1843 - Lydney

(Mary's husband George - was buried at Parkend - 15 October 1832 age 74 - c1758 - residence SLADD - where Mary was living on the 1841 census)

The Will of Phillip JAMES (coal miner) of Awre in 1777 - is just an Inventory and a Bond - mentioning wife Mary…..

Who were the children of this Phillip & Mary ? and did two brothers, both give their children the father's name - as this could be a family name….. Fod records need checking….

Needs work- but don't think George & Mary had a son Philip - so who is Phillip….
