Mary Adean widow marriage in Awre (General)

Mary Adean described as a widow married William Jones a widower of Wollastone (sic) on 19 Feb 1738/1739 in Awre(Marriage Allegation and PR). Can anyone find an Adean husband for Mary. Mary was born about 1685 so I would image her marrying about 1705 Mary married again in 1746 following the death of William to John Lane and was buried in Awre 24 Oct 1750

? This family appears to be farmers possibly keeping land in the family

William JONES (Widower - Woolaston)

Burial at Woolaston - 1 November 1735, Anne - (Wife of William)

The Will of Mary LANE of Awre written 9 May 1747 and signed by her son William JONES in 1751 quickly looking through seems to mention her son as William JONES of Bledsloe? Farm and Grand-daughters Mary** and Besy JONES 'By me referred in and by my marriage articles ….. me and my present husband, John LANE

Proved: 7 September 1751

Fod records: baptism at Awre 14 September 1746, Betty JONES, parents William & Mary (Hester) of Blidslo Farm

Baptism at Awre 14 April 1741, Mary JONES, father William, Blidslo Farm
--

The Will of William JONES 1773, Blidsloe Farm, talks about a Marriage Settlement, mentions Hester (need to read this Will properly) his Sons, Richard, Mary and Hester JONES)

The Will talks about a marriage settlement between his heir, William JONES - William MUDWAY, Henry HOOPER and Will FRY all of the Parish of Newland, and Mary MUDWAY the eldest daughter of the aforesaid…. - date mentioned 23 December 1768 (the marriage record on the fod is 24 December 1769) - the Licence is 1768

Fod Records

William JONES married Mary MUDWAY - at Newland by Licence - 27 December 1768 witnesses: William FRYER and Richard JONES. Richard JONES is aged 19 c1749

Fod records: baptism at Awre - 6 August 1749, Richard and another Son William. parents William & Hester
--

Ancestry:
? Mathew ADEAN married Hester CADLE 18 August 1711, Bristol **

--
? not sure about the dates as William JONES must have been born c1720+ to have married and had children. The date given was - Mary ADEAN (Widow) married William JONES (Widower) - 19 February 1738 - so assume was William her step-son….

? Is William JONES who married Mary ADEANE in 1839, William JONES (Jnr) and not (Snr)

as William JONES of Awre Will 1744 just mention his son William and wife Mary

--

Looking at the Gloucestershire Marriage Index CD pre 1800 registers

Not sure if this helps re locations/surname spelling…. all DURSLEY -

Hannah ADEANE married Edward POINTING at 4 February 1712
Hannah ADEAN married Richard ELLIOTT - 30 December 1745
Samuel A'DEAN married Martha WILLIS - 6 September 1774

Looking at Awre baptisms: John & Mary ADEAN appear to be having children around that time

1723 - John - father John, mother's name not stated
1726 - Mary - father John, mother, Mary

Burial at Awre - 1726, John Adeane

Thank you for your very informative reply. Some of which I knew and some new to me. I descend from William Jones the younger born abt 1716 and his wife Hester. I have five children from the marriage and my line is via their son Richard born abt 1749 who went on to marry Betty Awre in 1775.
Betty Awre was the daughter of John Awre and Ann Wade, Ann being the daughter of John Wade and Elizabeth Lane who was the daughter of a John Lane and Sarah Davies. I am trying to establish if there is a relationship between the John Lane who married Mary Jones(Adean) and the father of Elizabeth Lane who married John Wade.
I do not think Mary Adean married William Jones the younger, The dates of various events bears this out.
I do have access to Ancestry but had not picked up the Gloucester Wills on the site but will pursue the lead.
Once again my thanks.
Tony

The ADEAN family appear to have connections to Bristol - so it might be well worth seeing if Mary's first marriage took place there. Lots of people married in Bristol from the surrounding areas. This has happened in my family tree.

???

William JONES married Jane BUTLER at Awre - 3 June 1721

Jane JONES buried at Awre - 4 December 1722
