As far as I can tell Joseph does not appear in either the 1842 or 1868 Directory for Newnham.

Newnham was an important centre with at least one Leather tannery ( Underhill Tan house ) he may have been a small scale shoe maker selling his output at Market rather than with a shop.

Oak Place is near Nailyard in the North West quarter of Newnham,
