Alfred Bertie Ellway and Mona Beatrice Ellway (General)
My great great uncle Isaac Schofield emigrated to Luzerne, Pennsylvania in 1906 with his wife Hannah Barlow Schofield from Cheshire and before that Lancashire. They had a daughter Mona Beatrice Schofield in 1909 and in 1930 she married Alfred Bertie Ellway, son of Alfred and Gertrude Ellway. Alfred and Gertrude had already emigrated to the USA from Yorkley and Bertie went to join them. His occupation was given as 'miner' and his birth had been registered in Monmouth in 1906.
The next record I have been able to find, after the marriage, was Bertie returning to England in 1939 and then his death in The Forest of Dean in 1941. I cannot find a record of Mona's return but that is perhaps because she was a US citizen. Her father Isaac Schofield also returned in 1939 and died in 1942 in Lydney. His wife Hannah Schofield had died in Luzerne in 1925. Mona Ellway had a long widowhood and she died in Lydney in 2002.
I would be grateful for any information about Betie, Mona or Isaac from their time in the Forest of Dean. I believe Mona lived at 8 Primrose Hill, Lydney, which now seems to have been demolished as I can't find it on Google Streetview..
