Sling or Ellwood nr Coleford would be my best guess to help explain where "Marsh Lane" area is.
If you try Multimap or Google Maps , then use the post code >>> GL16 7NA
Or if you want to see the Marsh Lane area in the late 1800's try
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
co ords 358752,207857
where you can get a modern OS map tile , and an aerial view.

Janice,
If you go to Towns and Villages on this site: click on Forest of Dean West you will find Marsh Lane just south of Ellwood.

Hi Janice
Marsh Lane goes from Sling to Elwood
If you go into The Forest of Dean Family History map page
drag Sling to centre of screen and zoom in until Clements End Rd. appears, Marsh lane is the road starting at the Rd in the above road going through to Elwood.
It is a narrow winding lane with few passing places,as I use it occasionlly.
Next time I go that way I will try and remember to look for that house hoping the names not changed.

hi Janice
It's me again, I have been along Marsh Lane and Elton cottage is still there.
If you go into the forest of Dean Council website www.fdean.gov.uk. Go into the planning requests and check on planning application P1120/06/FUL when this comes up go into the site map and it will show you Elton Cottage.
hope this is of some help.
