Hello,
I am new to this forum and I am looking for any information on my great grandfather Thomas Morgan, son of George Morgan (born 1836) and Mary Ann Morgan (nee Birt).

Thomas was born in Polesworth, Warwickshire in 1874 and moved to Denaby Main, South Yorkshire, where he first worked as a colliery under manager and later, a Justice of the Peace.

He married Janet (nee Paterson) and one of his sons, David Reginald, was my grandfather. My father, Edmund Malcolm Morgan, sadly passed away recently and my family and I are very keen to learn more about his and our 'Morgan' roots.

Thomas and Malcolm are both laid to rest in Denaby cemetary and David Reginald is resting in Mexborough cemetary, South Yorkshire

Hello Paul,

Thank you for drawing my attention to the Posting Guidelines and apologies if I have caused any offence.

There is a connection to the Forest of Dean, as I am descended from a family named ‘Birt’ who lived in the area during the 19th century.

James Birt was born in Newland and married Elizabeth James. Their children were Ann, Margaret, Mary Ann, Thomas, James, Samuel, Elizabeth, Matilda and Rhoda.

Mary Ann Birt (as mentioned above) married my great great grandfather George Morgan, who after moving to Polesworth, then had Thomas Morgan in 1847.

Fortunately, have already found a member on here, who is related to me through Mary Ann Birt, so I am very pleased that I joined the forum.

Kind Regards
Angie
