Unfortunately it looks like we will be unable to answer Luke's question regarding which of Joseph Taylor's brothers saw their father die in an accident earlier in the year.

"The case of (Joseph)Taylor is painful, inasmuch as only a few months previously he was working with his father (William Taylor), who was killed in his presence on almost the same spot, whilst another brother was injured."
