Browns of Mitcheldean, George Charles Dilke b1935 (General)
Hi mamatres, and a big welcome to the forum, your computer skills look fine to me. Thanks for your extra information, bound to be of help to someone. It's all these "little snippets" that help build the "bigger pictures".
I think this is George's birth record from the Glostershire Archives website, I see he was given the name of an illustrious man of the Dean, Sir Charles Dilke MP. Is there a family connection , or was this because he was born at the Dilke Hospital near Cinderford, East Dean ?;

This is the excellent and user-friendly website it came from

Here's a little background about Sir Charles Dilke, and the excellent hospital everyone knew as "The Dilke" since it opened in 1923, I hope it's of interest.

Thought it must have been mentioned here in the past

Finally, this definitive Dilke Hospital website is new to me, but I'll be revisiting it very soon indeed !. By pointing one's mouse at the blue "Dilke" heading it displays a long drop-down menu, click on any heading and it gives a huge amount of detailed background history of the Hospital and related Forest doctors etc, a superb site !
Looking for a section relevant to the time George was born gave this page, which I find delightful as I fondly recall enjoying the summer fetes at the Dilke during my Cinderford childhood in the 60s & 70s. Long after I'd moved away we've made a point of visiting home so my own son - sadly not a Vurrister by birth - could also enjoy Dilke Fetes since he was a babe-in-arms in the summer of 1997. Happy days!

This highly-recommended website has other sections relevant to the FoD area, including St Margaret's Church and Courtfield House at Welsh Bicknor.
