Yorkley Slade dwelling history (General)

I am trying to find out the history of my grandparents house in Yorkley Slade. Date built etc. i realise I will probably have to contact the City Council but am wondering which is the best department etc to email. I have the address, as it is now known , so hopefully it will not be difficult to find. They lived there from abut 1914 - 1950.
Thanks Gill

Hi Gill,
I see your query follows-on from a similar one you posted a while back. That's fine, of course, altho it would possibly have been more helpful if you'd attached this new post to the old thread which contains additional relevant info.

I'm not speaking from personal experience, but my gut feeling is to contact Glostershire Archives first. I would expect them to hold any relevant records, rather than the Council offices, and if they don't surely they'll be able to advise who to ask at Shire Hall or whatever it's called these days.

You can also search the archives online catalogue in advance, I suggest you don't be too specific with your search words.

Before that, and if you live in the area, Cinderford Library may be worth a visit.

Good Luck !

Thanks Jeff
I will contact Gloucester Archives. I have decided I just might end up paying for the information if it is available.
Have to admit I didn't consider adding it onto my last email will keep that in mind for another time. I live in NZ now so all my work is done via the internet.
Cheers Gill
