Fetter Hill is what I would have expected to find. My guess is that is what the record looks like ( hence transcribed) or is how it has been recorded. Phonetically what you have is more like "fetter'ill"

Many thanks ,is it possible that the other
hores shown on the 1841 on this site are his brothers as they all lived in very close proximity and were all quarrymen?

You will find many variations of the spelling of the surname.

I have HOAR - WOOR - WOAR surnames who all belong to the same family.

Have Harriette Hore in my tree. Married a Richard Hopkins born about 1831 in Whichurch (spelling??) Hereford. My line is then from their son, also Richard born 6 Nov 1870 in Ellwood, West Dene, who eventually ended up in County Durham.
Can't work out yet how original Richard met Harriette - although possible that other Hopkins of the area were a relative.
Have let that side rest for a while, so if anyone can add anything that links 1831 Richard to West Dene, I'd be grateful. Also Harriette's mother's origins - believe it to be Mary Smith born about 1817. She married Henry (Whent) Hore/Hoare 17th Dec 1831 I believe - which makes her 14/15 at the time????

Definitely my line - many thanks. If anyone else out there looking to trace forward from the Richard Hopkins listed I have details (and some very poor quality copies of photos)
