John Allford, (1818), marr. Elizabeth Bennett 1841 at Newland. He was transported to Tasmania in 1845. I was aware that he remarried after his sentence was served but cannot find what happened to his family in Coleford. I found Elizabeth at home on the 1851 census, living with her parents. There were no children at the address. Ive since seen information, which states there were 2 children born to John and Elizabeth , one of them Ruth Allford. I can't find any births . However the 1851 census shows a Ruth Alford residing with grandparents at Staunton. I can't find any further census entries for Elizabeth or children . I haven't found any births either. The info I read on an Australian site stated that Elizabeth remarried to a Absolom White. I can't find a candidate for him either . Can anyone help ?

From the research I have undertaken there is no evidence that Elizabeth Allford married again following her husband's transportation. She appears in the 1891 Census living with her married daughter Elizabeth. This is a transcript:

Broadstone near Staunton, Coleford
Given Name Surname Relationship Age Estimated Birth Year Gender Birth City Birth County Birth Country
Samuel Davison Head 44 1847 Male Staunton Gloucestershire England
Elizabeth Davison Wife 39 1852 Female Crossways Gloucestershire England
Henry Davison Son 11 1880 Male Crossways Gloucestershire England
Emily A Davison Daughter 9 1882 Female Crossways Gloucestershire England
Victoria E Davison Daughter 3 1888 Female Berryhill Gloucestershire England
Sidney S Davison Son 10/12 1890 Male Broad Stone Monmouthshire Wales
Elizabeth Allford Mother-in-law 71 1820 Female Crossways Gloucestershire England

Elizabeth died January 1894 and was buried at Staunton Parish Church on 15 January 1894.

I have not found a birth or baptism record for Elizabeth born 1852 nor have I found a record of her marriage to Samuel Davison. The childrens' births are registered and you will find baptisms in the Staunton Church Registers on this site.

Ruth Allford married William Dobbs on 25 December 1863 at the Independent Chapel,Monmouth.

Thank you. The info I had was from a descendent of Ruth . It was in a post left on a website. I was unable to follow up and so I tried to find the info. myself but couldn't. This makes sense and I lam grateful for the reference.I can add a little more to my tree. There are a lot of Allfords and I'm sure after all these years I will still find more . Such helpful people on this site.

Yes this is the entry I found too. I had assumed that she was the daughter of the Allford living next door . I have researched the Allford for years and have to say I had previously thought that Sarah hadn't had any children . this discovery was by chance and I knew there was a Ruth Allford but couldn't find her parents.
