I'm sure the 1881 census holds answers especially as Susannah was born September 1880. Just wish I could find it!There are interesting entries in the British Newspaper Archive and Ancestry regarding Martha Phelps. She was at one time living in a coal bunker, so perhaps she disappeared off the radar when the 1881 census was taken. This bunker belonged to a William White. Susannah's father is stated as George White on her marriage certificate! The 1911 census suggests she had 20 children. I am going to try and find who they are. I believe one was Charles who was in prison with her, and one died shortly after birth and a relative was caught trying to bury the body in the local churchyard in the Forest of Dean, under the cover of darkness.
