Arnold KEAR -> North East England (General)

by slowhands @, proud of his ancient Dean Forest roots, Friday, January 19, 2007, 06:04 (6519 days ago) @ Liphook

The only hint on his census return ( 1891) is that he is a Coal miner.

Without any other evidence (!) you might conclude that he like many others left his native Forest in search of better paid work - in South Wales , Yorks/Notts, Durham or further ( Ohio, Colorado etc )

< in 1891 there are approx 700 Gloucestershire men living in Durham, not all miners . including 3 Kear families Arnold 1867, George 1855 and Thomas 1853, all 3 from Coleford/Newland >

There are sources that hint/detail the differences in wage rates for miners across the country, esp leading up to the mining strikes in the 1920's

Marriage
6 Sep 1890 Arnold Kear = Maria Ellen Nelson
