Hi, I would be interested to see if anyone has any interior & exterior photographs of the George Inn St Briavels around 1920 to 1939.

Thanks

hi Anton,

Use the google search engine there are some pictures of the George Inn at St. Briavals. Might not be 1920/30.

Thanks for the info Julie I do have some of these pictures. What would be ideal is some older pictures or post cards or even better to have a picture of William Edward Burley who was the licensee in 1919.

Regards

Hi Anton,

I don't have pictures or postcards I'm afraid, but I would let you now that William Edward Burley is my great-great-granduncle. I'm currently researching this further, and if I find anything I'll pass it over.

Can I ask why you're interested?

Hi Sue,

According to my records they married on 18 June 1910 - is this right? Please feel free to email me if you would like to get in touch to construct this side of the family further.

Thanks

Hi,
Have you seen this site or the accompanying book ?.
Sorry but the site's security settings mean I cannot give a direct link to the George. I suspect this is quite reasonably because they are trying to sell a book which is widely available.

However (thankfully in this case, unlike say Cinderford) if you enter St Briavels into the site's search box it only gives 4 pages to look thro until you find the George, there is an old B&W external photo and some history. It's possible that contacting the site owner Geoff Sandles could get you more info/pictures. (Thanks for reminding me I must do the same wrt another pub on the site ! ).

I find another way to find old postcards is a wellknown auction website.

Good luck !
