NASH freeminers Sling/Ellwood/Coleford (General)

Thank you very much for your help once again, Slowhands!

Yes, William (aged 32 in 1838) was indeed the father of Jeremiah (and therefore my ggg-grandfather). John (aged 63) was my gggg-grandfather; Richard (aged 60) was his brother. The others in 1838 are their sons. John and Richard had brothers Samuel and Thomas. We're not yet certain of their parents--Richard Nash (c1746) and Mary Harrison (c1749), married 28-Sep-1767 Newland, seem to be the leading contenders among the three couples we have identified.

By the way, I just received word from another descendent of Jeremiah Nash that he had left the family in pursuit of odd jobs around the country and often sent money back to the family. (Had the mines hit upon hard times in the 1880s & 1890s???) In a letter to his son George shortly before his death, Jeremiah explained, "You may think I had a heart of stone but loved you all very very much."

Interestingly, we have descendents of all of these registered Nash freeminers on our "Nashes of the Forest of Dean" Yahoo group, except for Reuben and Francis Nash.

Isn't the power of modern technology wonderful? Who could have guessed 50 years ago that a family could reunite via the internet? Thank you to all who have reached out to connect!!!
