WHILE RESEARCHING THE BRANCH OF HIRAM JAMES IN THE JAMES`S TREE I LOOKED AT 1891 CENSUS IT HAS

IRA BORN ABT 1817 AGED 74 LIVING AT BREAM EAVES

ALSO HIS WIFE ANN BORN ABOUT 1815 AGED 76
OK THATS STRAIGHT FORWARD

ALSO LIVING WITH THEM IS
MARY J JAMES AGE 5 RELATION FOUNDLING BORN IN FRANCE
HAS ANYONE CAME ACROSS THIS TERM OR CAN SUGGEST WHAT THE TERM FOUNDLING MEANS

ALSO TO CONFUSE MATTERS MORE ON THE 1901 CENSUS ANN STATES THAT MARY IS HER NEICE (IRA HAD DIED BY NOW)AGED 17 BORN LONDON

ANY SUGGESTIONS COMMENTS OR POINTERS I WOULD BE GLAD OF
TERRY JAMES

IF ANYONE LOOKS AT THE 1891 CENSUS ON ANCESTORY THE ENTRY IS ON IMAGE NO 7

A foundling usually means that a child has 'lost' their parents and has been taken in by another member of the family or friends of the family.

Oxford Dictionary definition 'Foundling' 'Deserted infant of unknown parents'
