Hi all
Im hoping somebody can help solve a problem with a marriage certificate ( See my previous post 01-04-2007 )
Does anybody from the variuos families above have any links/connections or ideas or history on the reasons why on a marriage certificate the groom and brides fathers would have different surnames from their son/daughter or is it likely
1. both born out of wedlock
2. fathers took their mothers maiden names as well ie George Combe-Fisher
3. both fathers had died so somebody else gave them away but appeared on the certificate.
IF it is 1. above then i would therefore have to follow my blood line through Combe and not Fisher, so any help and advise would be much appreciated
Regards
John Fisher

Hi
The bride might have been a widow hence the different surname.
Also I was interested in the ALLAWAY name as Iam researching ALLAWAYs from Lydbrook and Ruardean
Sylvia Morgan(nee ALLAWAY)
