James WRIGHT married Ann FREEMAN 1853 at Newland (General)

by Simone @, Saturday, May 05, 2007, 11:37 (6414 days ago)

Hi

I have James Wright m Ann Freeman in 1853 at Newland, unfortuantely there are no father's name for either of them.

I have not found anything conclusive for James in 1841 or 1851-

I know that Ann had a son Thomas before she married James- Thomas was born c 1852 and is in a school for deaf and dumb in 1861 - RG9 1724 39 3
In 1871 he is an apprentice back in Newland RG10 5298 37 27.
In 1881 he is with his mother Ann at High Nash RG11 5223 38 25- Ann gives her birthplace at this time as Abergavenny.

I can't find anything definite for Ann in 1841 or 1851-

I found a birth on the IGI for a Tom Owen Freeman at Monmouth (although on each census his birthplace is put as Coleford), with only the mother named - Ann Freeman- Could this be my Ann?

How on earth will I find them without father's names on marriage cert?

Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Ann FREEMAN 1833 ish monmouthshire

If the Abersychan is correct in 1871 then you might expect here to be recorded in Trevethan ( Pontypool) Monmouthshire

If the Abergavenny is correct then Llanfoist is a possibility as well.

Thanks for your help Slowhands-

There is an Ann'e' Freeman b 1829 at Llanfoist to William and Elizabeth -

Will have a dig around with what you have found for me and try and tie something up.

Wonder why they didn't mention father's names on marriage? So frustrating!

Thanks again

Ann FREEMAN 1833 ish monmouthshire- geography help pls

by Simone @, Thursday, May 31, 2007, 06:35 (6388 days ago) @ slowhands

Hi
I now have a copy of a baptism Tom Owen Freeman, Feb 1852, born to Anne, (with an 'e') Freeman, no father named. Residence is given as Union Monmouth.

I believe that this is very likely Thomas Freeman b 1852 as listed on the census, detailed later on this post.

I'm hopeless at Geography! Given the Ann Freeman's found on census at Abergavenny & Llanfoist, is the workhouse in the right area? Trying to track down which is the most plausible Ann /Anne on the 1851 census.

Thanks

Hi Slowhands

Do the burial registers give informant information or would I have to get certificate for this?

Thanks

Death Certificates contain the following information

by admin ⌂, Forest of Dean, Sunday, May 06, 2007, 05:28 (6413 days ago) @ Simone

* When and Where Died
* Name and Surname
* Sex
* Age
* Occupation
* Cause of Death
* Signature, description and residence of informant
* When Registered
* Signature of Registrar

DEATH CERTIFICATES

Deaths must be registered within five days unless the Coroner is involved.

They provide the family historian with less information than either Birth or
Marriage certificates, but they are useful, especially in helping to "round off"
the story of an ancestor's life.

Thanks for that Dave

I was just hoping that the burial registers would give informant also- trying to avoid sending for the cert!
