East Dean Methodist Circuit (General)

I've come across one of my ancestors who was baptised, and where it says Church/Chapel, it says East Dean Methodist Circuit.
Can anyone tell me what this was please?

The circuit was a collection of chapels or meeting places, I suspect served by the same staff / preachers

DEAN, EAST - Bailey; Drybrook; Edgehills; Ruspidge, Soudley; Yorkley slade

and possibly out to Blakeney Hill...

In 1824 the Oakengates Primitive Methodist circuit of Shropshire sent J. Roles as
minister to the Forest of Dean miners. Based at Pillowell in the parish of West
Dean, the popularity of the mission quickly resulted in the organisation of a
circuit of cottages, which became independent of the Oakengates mission. The
first Pillowell circuit chapel was built at Lydbrook in 1828....
