JONES of West Dean (General)
I have a family of JONES's who in census 41-71 live at The Lonk, Joyford.
I have them all born in West Dean.
Father John c 1801
Mother Hannah c 1801
Mary c 1827
Benjamin c 1831
John c 1833
Elizabeth c 1836
James c 1838 (I have up to 1891, he married Alice Matthews)
Eliza c 1841
Please could someone advise as to which parish I would be looking in for their Baptism. Is there a parish of West Dean as such??

James JONES married Hannah MORGAN at Staunton Parish Church on 24 October 1825.

Baptisms for John, Elizabeth, James and Eliza can be found in Registers for Christchurch Parish Church. Details are available on this website.
There is a baptism for a Mary JONES in the Christchurch Registers on 6 July 1826 but parents are given as John and Mary.

In 1842 the main part of the extra-parochial area of the Forest of Dean was
divided for poor-law act purposes into two townships of East Dean and West Dean.
