Bicknor's (General)

Welsh Bicknor is today in Herefordshire, although historically Monmouthshire.

It lies across the river Wye from English Bicknor and Lydbrook.

Welsh Bicknor is associated with the Vaughan family who were Catholic and held Courtfield. Courtfield is "supposed" to be the location where Henry V was brought up before becoming King and going on to Agincourt, others claim he was born at Courtfield.

The Vaughan family is also associated with Ruardean.

The "nor" part of Bicknor is thought to refer to the River bank.
