James and Edwin Brain (General)

by Jean Herbert @, Leeds Yorkshire, Friday, August 17, 2007, 10:01 (6310 days ago)

Benjamim Brain 1811 married Elizabeth Meek. Have marriage records and details of both parents.
Have them on census 1851 - 1861 not found on 1871 yet - 1881
My query is:
On 1851 Census it shows that Elizabeth and Benjamin had two sons. One James age 7 born abt 1884 and Edwin age 7 born abt 1884. I initailly thought this was a transcription error until I read the next census of 1861. This shows Edwin age 17 born abt 1844 and also James age 17 born abt 1844.
I can find no record of these two boys on Parish Records. Can anyone tell me if they were twins? Yet to find death dates of Benjamin and Elizabeth but working on it. Regards Jean Herbert

slowhands, as you usual you are a star, thank you so much for finding the 1871 census and baptism entries. Would seem that the James and Edwin Brain 1844 are twins. This is the first set of twins we have come across in any branch of the families we are researching. Brilliant bit of detective work. Regards Jean Herbert
