Milson HARRIS buried at Newland (General)

by rheola, Tuesday, August 21, 2007, 06:41 (6306 days ago)

Hi , I've found the burial details for my husbands 2xgreatgrandfather but I'm not sure where it is ! He is Milson Harris buried at Newland on 14/10/1869 .
A few years ago I visited the most beautiful church in the forest of Dean , it was called 'The Cathedral of the Forest ' ---- Is this Newland church ?
Would anyone also know if Milson is a name that's popular in this area ? I thought I wouldn't have much trouble with a name that was so uncommon, but there seems to be an awful lot of Milsons' in this area !
Thanks a lot regards
Rheola

Hi Rheola,
My ggg grandfather's sister, Elizabeth Morgan born in 1807 in Coleford married Milson Harris's brother (I think!)William Harris, in 1828. Just to confuse matters they named their first son, Milson (born 1829)and were close neighbours on the 1851 census.
Would love more information on them.

Sue

Hi , I think you have the same family . Milson Harris was my husband's 2x greatgrandfather. Milson did have a brother William . Milson's son William was my husband's greatgrandfather . I don't have much information on them at the moment, as I haven't long started to research this branch . Most of the info I have I've managed to get off this website ......it's a fountain of information ! If I find some more I'll let you know .

Milson does seem to be common in the area. I have a Milson Huzzey in my tree. I think there was a Chartist leader of that name which may be why.
