Nags Head Inn (General)

Iam searching for information on an Inn called the Nags Head which was in Whitecliff, near Coleford, in the 1800s through to the early 1900s. It was also referred to as the Travellers Rest, possibly because it might have been an overnight coach stop. It was quite close to the pottery in Whitecliff operated by the Watts family, about which I have previously posted a notice on this Message Board. Anybody heard of the Nags Head??

Nags Head, Whitecliff GL16 8NB

There are references to the Nags Head Inn at Coleford which, I am assuming, is the same as the Nags Head at Whitecliff which is about half a mile to the south-east of the town on the road to Newland. The annual rateable value of the Nags Head was £11.2s.4d in 1891 and 1903

Dear slowhands I am researching my family tree O'connell and I know that my great grandad John O'connell was the licensed victualier in 23/11/1911. Do you any photo's etc of the nags at that time, please note I have posted a message on the message board.

Travellers Rest, Whitecliff

Mentioned in 1830 Pigot's directory and 1837 Robson's Commercial Directory. Could this be the same premises as the later (1842 onwards) Nags Head at Whitecliff? No other details at present.

My 2nd Gt Grandfather John Jones was the Innkeeper at the Nags Head in 1891.
Last year I took my mom & her cousin to the surrounding area & the site of the Nags head
