Ann ADAMS (formerly MEEK) possible marriage to Charles MEEK (General)

Hello everyone,

I have been checking out FreeBMD and found what could be a marriage I have been looking for, the marriage of Ann ADAMS to Charles MEEK.

Mt ggg grandmother Ann MEEK married a Thomas ADAMS in Lea in 1846. Ann already had an illegitimate daughter, Harriet MEEK, by Enos BRAIN at the time. Thomas ADAMS died in 1860.

On FreeBMD I have found a marriage for Ann ADAMS in Dec quarter 1861, Westbury district, unfortunately there are only 3 names shown and Charles MEEK is not one of them. However, there is a marriage of a Charles MEEK in December quarter 1861 in Westbury district, again only 2 names are shown and Ann ADAMS is not one of them. The only difference in the entries are the page numbers which are 393 and 383. I have checked out the marriages entered for Westbury on this site and this marriage does not show up.

I believe that Ann ADAMS (formerly MEEK) did marry Charles MEEK. A couple called Ann Meek and Charles Meek were witnesses at the marriage of Harriet MEEK to Charles HODGES in 1862. Harriet Meek was Ann ADAMS/Meek's illegitmate daughter.

As far as I can tell there were no children from the marriage of Ann MEEK to Thomas ADAMS.

From the list of parishes transcribed on this site it looks as though the marriages for Westbury covering this period are on-line but this marriage does not come up in the search.

Is it likely that the FreeBMD marriage is the right one?

Jenny
