Can anyone help with info on a Emily Paradise who appears on the 1871 census
living in Hanley staffs but born in West Dean 1864 (states Yorkley on a later census), with her sister Harriet and parents William and Rhoda, all from Forest of Dean.

My problem.....there are no baptisim records I can find for Emily or Harriet nor a record of marriage between a William Paradise and Rhoda.

Is there anywhere I am not looking.
Tried BMD index and this websites brilliant parish records with no luck.

I believe that my Henry Paradise bn 1817 is the son of George and Mary.

and that Edwin is another sibling (son of George and Mary Paradise).

It is so good to be able to continue the family line further back but frustrating to get so stuck with baptisim for Emily Paradise abt 1864 and the marriage of her parents William and Rhoda.

are Non-conformists recorded anywhere???

Do you have a list of George and Mary Paradise's children? I think it may be their daughter Mary, who married a Thomas Hawkins b.@ 1797, on 14 March 1829 in Awre. Thanks!

no sorry - only what I've managed to piece together from IGI and this topic info.
I am pretty sure that Henry bn 1818 (Berkeley) and Edwin bn 1821 both are and it looks like Ann bn 1813 is too - and I'm sure there are more out there.

The same names crop up though I am finding - because Henry (mentioned above)
married a Harriet Hawkins bn abt 1817 in West Dean area and her parents were William and Mary Hawkins.

Emily Paradise was born Rhoda Emma Hawkins on 20 Dec 1863 in Yorkley, West Dean. Her father was William Hawkins, collier, mother Rhoda Hawkins, formerly Jones. Her birth was registered in the district of Coleford on 9 Jan 1864.
As Emily Paradise, She marries William Stevens on 5 March 1887 by banns in Rodmarton, Glos. and she dies on 19 dec 1953 in Wroughton Wiltshire.

Harriet, her sister was born on 30 Oct 1866 in Yorkley to the same parents. Probate records show she died as Harriet Rhoda Hawkins on 2 feb 1943 in London

Their father, William Henry Hawkins was beptised in Blakeney on 16 Oct 1842. Only his mother, Harriet Hawkins, spinster is listed. No father named. Abode is Viney Hill. Harriet Hawkins later marries Henry Paradise in May 1843, and from then on, William appears to use both the surname Hawkins and Paradise.

As William Hawkings, aged 20, batchelor, he married Rhoda Jones, 20 by banns at St Mary's Church in the Parish of Lydney on the 14 Dec 1862. His father is named as William Hawkings (the same name as his grandfather), collier, and her father is William Jones, collier. Witnesses are Thomas Paradise and Rosatta Worgan.

The 1871 census, shows the Paradise family living in Hanley staffordshire, but I can't find any record of the family in 1881, and William and Rhoda seem to vanish after that date
