Well the census data doesn't help too much , other than his occupation of Mason - which might imply he was a tradesman rather than a labourer who moved in search of work.

In 1851 there are a couple of other RHODES ( from Arnold/north Nottingham) of similar age who stayed in Nottinghamshire.

Knitting, silk, lace and of course Coal feature in Nottinghamshire's industrial history.

Original Rhodes came to England during Norman Conquest.
Name: Willemus de Rode first to establish his line in England.
Metioned in Domesday Book and lived around Nottingham during time of Richard I.
