Morgans from Cinderford (General)

Hi. I am new to the board. I hope that I am not repeating anything for those of you that have been members for a long while...

My great grandfather, William Morgan, was born to Edward and Elizabeth Morgan on 8 June 1869. According to the census records, he was born in Cinderford.

William, to the best of my knowledge, is the only family member to have come to the US (1887).

I have found his family in the census records (1861,71,81), but that is as far as I seem to be able to go. Like many things, there are inconsistencies. I would very much like to obtain his birth certificate or find more information on the family that stayed.

Is the birth record my best bet? I do not know to which church, if any, the family belonged.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
