CHAPMAN of Lydney (General)
by Jenniferjt, Tuesday, December 25, 2007, 04:26 (6181 days ago)
Hi,
I am researching my family tree and have reached a bit of a wall! I have traced back my family so far from my great grandmother
1900 Hilda Pretoria Chapman
1873 William Henry Chapman
1848 Isaac Chapman
1815? Thomas Chapman
I think it is this family that owned a motor garage in Lydney at some point over the years.
Places of residence include
Nap Tything
Albert Street
Queen Street
Mount Pleasant.
If any one has any information about the chapmans from Lydney / Tetbury / Dursley I would be very greatful. I have reached a stage where it is difficult to progress further.
Thanks in advance!
Jennifer Thomas

Hi,
Thanks to the above...Some of it I already knew, some I didn't.
(Having problems tracing Thomas' father mainly!)
This is very interesting and thanks again for taking the time to look this up. Have some other leads now which is great!
Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer
Mary Chapman b Tetbury Q2 1851 was Isaac Chapman's sister and my great grandmother. She married Samuel Thomas in Chepstow District in 1874 and their second child was William Thomas my mother's father. He was born at Lydney around 1877.
My mother Eleanor Mary Thomas was born in Swindon in 1908 when William worked at the GWR Wagon works and they later lived at Gorseinon when William moved jobs.
I don't know if we are related through Samuel Thomas as some of the addresses you gave in Lydney relate to his family.
Thanks for posting this as the replies have enabled me to add to the Chapman line.
