""Forest folk maintained that Berry Hill was 'the last place God made - and then Him had to apologize.' ""

Gloucetershire Archives has some of the surviving records:-

Salem Free Church, Berry Hill

GB/NNAF/C588 (Former ISAAR ref: GB/NNAF/O73944)

Scope - 1942-1982: marriage register
Repository - Gloucestershire Archives

NRA catalogue reference NRA 3514 Glos RO misc

There are those who believe that the Ministers of the Free churches looked after the Registers/records and they have been passed from Minister to Minister, so they may still be around but not in Public archives.

The BMD's are in fact Civil registration i.e. Birth, Marriage and Death( not strictly CoE). The legal requirements for civil registration have evolved over the last 170 years so this may explain why the earlier non-conformists seem to be missing from the BMD's.
Today "all" BMD events get a civil registration ( as far as I can recall !)

Just to confuse the Church/chapel records will record Baptism, Marriage and Burial - very subtle !!
