Alfred TIPPINS 1888 (General)

by reporter, Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 00:03 (6154 days ago)

Was going to ask for this help a couple of hours ago, but got sidetracked with the Wait/Brain thread from Jean Herbert - now it looks like Henry wasn't a 4th cousin.....huh.

Alfred Tippins appears in 1891 census as grandson of Francis and Laura (Cooksey). Living with them are two widowed sons of Francis and Louisa - George and James, so it would be reasonable to start with those two as possible father to Alfred.

The BMD shows an Alfred George Tippins born q2 1887 W-o-S

I've not been able to find Alfred post-1891. Does anyone have any further info on him, before I send off for the possible birth cert?

Now back to my Wait/Brains.......

Thanks all

Bob Jenkins

Thanks, Slowhands.

All fits, except for that swap to Frederick! George Tippins and Noah Mason, with whom they were visiting, were second cousins. I'd spotted this entry, but discounted it because of "wrong" name. There are no other Frederick Tippin/g/s 1888, so guess this is a correct assumption.

And thanks for that marriage info - another bit added.

Cheers
Bob

Thanks once again, Slowhands - that tidies up Albert/Frederick's parents. I just noticed Rhoda Meek's father was a Moses. I already have a Moses 1832 Ruardean Hill, parents John and Ann Roberts, who married Ann Malsom, and also a Moses 1833 Ruardean Hill, parents Moses and Sarah Tippins........so now there's a third, married to Lucy. That's this evening taken up, I reckon! - just glad I wasn't their postman......

Regards
Bob

Hi Reporter & Slowhands

I have been following this thread as well. I note that some of your suggestions for Rhoda's parents are from the report I sent you, that I note you are still delving through, as per your email to me today.

Slowhands information has caused me to check out Moses and I think this is Moses Meek baptised 23.11.1828 Ruardean, son of Beriah Meek and Tryphena Williams - note that Moses and Lucy had a daughter Tryphena in 1881.

Beriah Meek & Tryphena Williams also had a son Beriah, who married a Jane. They were the parents of 12 children including Charles Henry James Meek, killed WW1 buried Ploegsteert, Belgium 19.4.1918. His picture is on the web site.

Sorry to add to your distractions !!

No need to apologise - the weather's horrid, so indoor activities are rather welcomed.........and someone has just sent me a load of stuff on the Triggs. Now where was I and who am I?

By sorting out this third Moses Meek we'll hopefully eliminate errors in the future. Every bit helps.

Got them no problems, however, struggling with Rhoda Meek's sibs Tryphena 1862, Moses 1864, Bessie 1868, Thomas 1871 and Emily Jane 1872. They're 7th cousins. Can't find anything after the 1891 census. Since I write my 1901 census notes in bright pink (!) I'm suffering pink withdrawal symptoms. Anyone any info on them, please?
Cheers
