William John Preest Bream 1876 - 1948 (General)

Am looking for records of parents of William. Its all a bit confusing as it looks like he may have been illegitimate.

He married Jeanette Phipps in October 1901, and was born around 1876. Him and Jeanette are both buried at st. james Church. His mother's name was Pamela (surname uncertain), and she married Samuel Rickard, also of Bream.

The 1901 census, pre-marriage, shows him as 'William Priest Isaldwin' the 'Isaldwin' is actually (Baldwin) but has been transcribed incorrectly. My father says that his nickname was 'Baldwin' and presumed that it was his fathers name. But Pamela has her maiden name registered as Baldwin in her marriage to Samuel..... told you it was confusing!! 8-) Also, all subsequent children of Jeannette and William have the surname spelt 'Preest'.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have so far managed to trace my paternal grandfathers ancestors back to the 1300's in the Forest of Dean (100 of St Braivels) ... wow!
