Hi Marion
I cannot tell you who Ellen's parents were, but I too would be interested as I already have 375 Baldwin's in my Family Tree and the information might make a further connection. As you will no doubt have discovered the 17th July 1836 marriage at Staunton shows no parents and it is of course just before the issue of certificates.
I can tell you if you don't already know, they produced 8 children and my interest is in their son Thomas born 1840 Lydbrook married twice, with his first wife Mary Ann Hale married 15.6.1862 Drybrook, they produced 3 children before Mary Ann's death 24.2.1867. Their daughter Clara born 9.1.1867 Hausley was no doubt the cause of her death. Clara married William Read 26.12.1863 Ruardean, son of William Read 1839 and Selina Marfell 28.10.1839, emigrating to LaSalle in 1885 after the birth of their second child - they had 9 children, the first Dora Harriett born 15.11.1883 Hausley married Edward Moll 16.8.1900 LaSalle, IL. USA - see Ed Moll picture I submitted to the Photo Gallery.
Following Mary Ann nee Hale's death, Thomas married Susan Howell 24.7.1870, In 1876 the family emigrated on the "Queen of Nations", initially settling in Queensland Australia but shortly after moving to Minmi, NSW (a coal mining area near Newcastle.

Morning Jim, I may have spoken to you before, I will let you know if I find anything.
You may be interested in this family.
I have found a William & Hannah Baldwin (Drybrook) I wonder if Ellen came to the Forest from Hampshire to help this Baldwin family who had 21 children born in 19 years, this included one set of triplets & three sets of twins.
Cheers Marian

the best clue is in
1861
John Edwards abt 1810 Stanton, Gloucestershire, England Head East Dean, Gloucestershire
Ellen Edwards abt 1814 Bealah Yeno, Hampshire, England Wife East Dean, Gloucestershire
Elizabeth Edwards abt 1846 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Daughter East Dean, Gloucestershire
James Edwards abt 1837 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Son East Dean, Gloucestershire
John Edwards abt 1844 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Son East Dean, Gloucestershire
Joseph Edwards abt 1841 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Son East Dean, Gloucestershire
Richard Edwards abt 1855 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Son East Dean, Gloucestershire
Thomas Edwards abt 1840 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Son East Dean, Gloucestershire
Ann Edwards abt 1857 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Granddaughter East Dean, Gloucestershire
Thomas Chas Edwards abt 1860 West Dean, Gloucestershire, England Grandson East Dean, Gloucestershire
so where is "Bealah Yeno" is it Beauworth, or Beaulieu, or something very obscure - Bella Yeo !!!! ? Bucklers Hard near Beaulieu is my best offer !!!!
at the mo Beaulieu "sounds" right but I'm not convinced :-)

Dear Kimmie
Initially I can't see any connection with my Baldwins, but I know better than to say there is none. I will keep you posted if I come up with anything new, but it looks as though " Slowhands" has been kind enough to give you a lot of information.which should keep you going. You may need to send for some death/birth/marriage certificates to make a little more sense of it all. Read the certificates well, as I have often gone back & seen vital clues that I have missed, enabling me to unravel thinngs a little more.
Cheers

Dear Kimmie, just re-reading notes & noticed your posting. Ellen Baldwin married John Edwards, John's father was Joseph Edwards, he married Martha Powell, she was baseborn (illegitimate) to a Margaret Powel. May be of interest. Marian

Dear Slowhands
It appears that all paperwork is suspect.Just an update on Ellen, I don't think I will find her parents Unfortunately.
I have all the census papers: 1841 has her born Gloucestershire St Briavells
1851 as Elen born in Hampshire England
1861 as Ellen born Bealah Yeno Hampshire England
1871 as Ellen born Hampshire England
1881 as Helen born Hampshire N.K. England
1891 as Ellen born Llangibby, Monmouthshire Wales
Might be some more clues in the paperwork I have
Cheers

This needs so more "work" as the Ellen in Joys Green 1891 is recorded as Mother to John Hughes; should she be Mother in Law ? (that and Llangibby was why I'd "discarded her 1st time around !)

Dear Slowhands,
Have I jumped the gun?. Ellen's daughter Martha married John Hughes so unless it was a second marriage that Ellen Edwards should be mine. Maybe the census people asked John Hughes where was his mother born? hence Llangibby, will check if he is from around there. John Edwards died in 1886 & it looks as though Ellen
went to live with daughter Martha.
I meant to ask is the N.K. after or before Hampshire of any significance?
Thanks again for the input, it helps make things clearer if you can air them to someone.
Cheers
Marian

Dear Jim
My GGrandmother was Thomas's sister Elizabeth,Ellen's fifth child, there is a photo of her, husband Henry & my grandmother Ruth-Amy outside a cottage in the photo gallery, labelled Burton family. The census tells me it was probably at the Ruffett. When Henry died, Elizabeth remarried & became Tipton, can't take the credit for finding her, "Slowhands helped me"
Cheers
Marian
We probably corresponded before on the Edwards family.
