Richard Meek and Elizabeth Powis - Bream (General)
by kristeenL27 , Thursday, January 31, 2008, 04:55 (6145 days ago)
Can anyone help with my family tree research? I have a birth certificate for a Albert Edward Elton Meek, and his parents are given as Richard Meek, and Elizabeth Powis [although this surname is a little hard to read]. I cannot however, find evidence of this marriage anywhere, and wondered if anyone can help. I can find other marriages for a Richard Meek, but cannot tie up this particular link. Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thank you.

Thanks for all your help Slowhands and others who have emailed me...- I think I may have finally discovered what has happened. It appears that Richard Frank Powell, who married Elizabeth Powis, and Richard Frank Meek may actually be one and the same person! Richard Frank Meek was born to a single woman, Elizabeth Meek and as the only marriage for Elizabeth Powis is to a Richard Frank Powell, who matches in age and place of birth, I have concluded that Richard, having been born a Meek as no father is mentioned, called himself Powell and then at some stage after his marriage, and before the 1901 census, reverted to Meek again. What do you think?
