Inquests held in the Forest (General)

by priest @, Saturday, February 09, 2008, 07:38 (6140 days ago)

I am wondering if it is possible to obtain details of an inquest from a coroners court held in 1898 and if so where to apply to?. I am interested as a death certificate for Louisa Priest who died 1898 in Lydbrook indicates an inquest was held and the certificate was issued by the coroner and I would be interested to find out why the coroner was involved (I expect just due to suddeness of death and nothing more sinister!).
Any advice appreciated.

Inquests held in the Forest

Hi Alison

I tried to get a copy a few years back of one that took place in 1913. I think it was Glos Coroners office I contacted and also Glos Archives and was told records for that time had not been kept. Someone else on here may be able to shed more light on it though, sorry my tired brain today won't let me remember exactly!!

I did, however, manage to get a copy of the newspaper report on the inquest from the archive dept at 'The Forester' tel 01594 820 600

You may get something from them.
