Hi I am coming to the UK to do some research on the MORSE family from this area. There is a marriage registered to Thomas Morse & Louisa Beddis in the Parish Church at Flaxley in 1839, I know the church of St Mary was built some years later. Can anyone enlighten me as to what happened to the older Parish Church? I have been able to trace back to Abraham and Eleanor MORSE in Newent in 1673. Huntley and Awre also come up as places of interest. Jackman Morse was Vicar of Awre 1721 Buried at Awre 1765. If anyone out there is linked to this family I would love to make contact and perhaps met up when I come in August this year. Cheers Linda

My understanding is that prior to the 1856 Church of St Mary there was a Chapel by the gateway to the Abbey that was used by the Village of Flaxley.

The Graveyard has graves predating 1856
