Benjamin Yeates of Monmouth (General)
Does anyone have any information relating to Benjamin Yeates of Monmouth? He was a draper in Monmouth and had a business in Church St. and his second marriage was to Ann Kidson of Longhope, Gloucester (my great great grandparents)He was elected to the local council, presumably at Shire Hall,by a fiddle and was ousted in 1824. He was also a freemason. His father was a cider merchant also called Benjamin and he married Sarah Tippins in 1787 at Monmouth. I am unable to get back further than this and I think the family may have moved into Monmouth perhaps from another county.
