Royal Navy and Royal Naval Divison and Royal Marine WW1 medal awards can be searched for on Ancestry under "U.K., Naval Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1949".
The entry for Daniel W. Davies gives his service number PLY/852/S, lists the three medals he was entitled to, and in the 'how issued or disposed of' column is written "WW" (possibly means 'with widow'?) and in the 'remarks' column is written "I.C. 239/1916" (apparently some reference to his burial?).
Entries are also available for him on Ancestry in the "U.K., Royal Navy and Royal Marine Graves Roll, 1914-1919" and "Great Britain, Royal Naval Division Casualties of the Great War, 1914-1924" which lists the information given in post 1.
To locate these record categories highlight "Search" on the top tool bar, click on "Military" on the drop down menu, then click on the green "View all in Card Catalogue" button on the right of the next page for a list of the categories, scroll down to find the above and others. Best just search for U.K. and Ireland Records only to start with or you will get a load of U.S. record categories to scroll through.
