First, thanks Chris for the extra records data you've sent me, very interesting & helpful.

Second, sorry for once again not spotting the wood for the trees - I really should have remembered that the Medal Index Cards that I referred to earlier will not include Daniel for the simple reason these are British ARMY Records only. This dawned on me as I was wondering why the RND Marines Infantry carry Army ranks such as Private Davies, whereas the RND Infantry that I've researched carry Naval ranks, so a "Private" would equate to AB, Able Seaman. I think this apparent oddity is because the very first "Marines" were actually Army Soldiers seconded onto Navy warships long before the Royal Marines were formally created within the Navy ?
